HISTORICALLY GREAT

A Bold Beginning

Saint John Preparatory School started out as a federally funded Head Start under the direction of Mrs. Sadie Palmer.

The vision was expanded to include more students and officially opened in the fall of 1971 as the Saint John Preparatory School under the innovative leadership of Rev. Dr. Roscoe C. Wilson, Sr.

This vision was realized under its 1st and 2nd directors, Mrs. Nezzie Middleton Bell and Mrs. Josie Primus with 55 students, ages 3-5 years old.

The school adopted the Abeka curriculum program to be used at appropriate age levels.

The school was later approved by DSS to expand to 90 students.

After the approval and under the leadership of Mrs. Gracie House, Former Director, and Ms. Diana Friday, Interim Director the school able to sustain a consistent student enrollment.

The program expanded to develop well-rounded children by adding Spanish, Karate, Music, and Dance to the curriculum.
